This is a reminder for all of us that we need to accept and learn from things that don't go the way we expect and then move on.
Saw a great movie - Bridesmaids - this weekend that fits this poster so perfectly. I highly recommend it to gal pals out there, especially those who need a girls day out. The main characters have been friends since elementary school and know each other better than they may know themselves. One gets engaged and the other feels lost. The movie is about reconciliation, both with each other and with the single friends feelings of loss, inadequacy, and pain. Oh, yeah, did I mention that this is a comedy?
I'm not a laugh-out-loud kind of movie goer, but this one had me chortling multiple times. Grab your best girl and see this for a sweet bonding experience. And "Hold On" for one more day!

The Yadda Yadda Buffet: Squeezing Blood from a Turnip
I'll be making less money next year. Top that off with the fact that I can no longer move up on the salary scale unless I get a Ph.D., and for me, teaching is looking less and less like the "cash cow" so many in America seem to think it to be. Will I put in any fewer hours outside those required? Unlikely. Will I take on fewer responsibilities? No. Will I do less for my students with my own money. Huh-uh. I just can't in good conscience do those things. But I'll take a pay cut nonetheless.
How many of you would do the same?
Come spend time in my classroom for a week with me and then tell me how easy my job is and how a pay is in line. I dare ya. No, I DOUBLE DOG dare ya!

Card-a-Copia: My, Oh, My!
I guess Spring didn't get the memo that it's almost Summer, and it should stop raining now! Not that I'm complaining - I'll take this over the heat aaannnnyyyy day - but the rain has been somewhat persistent these past few MONTHS!
I've been working on some new things, but haven't had time to take photos yet, so here's another oldie-but-goodie card from last year. I struggled so much with this card, I just set it aside, thinking I'd come back to it with fresh eyes later. When I came back, I realized I liked the way it looked after I'd just shoved things together! Voila!Papers: Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Inks: Basic Brown (Stampin' Up!)
Misc.: flower brad (unknown); ribbon buckle (Stampin' Up!), ribbon (unknown), paisley folder (Cuttlebug), clear, sparkly gel pen (unknown)
As many of you know, I have an abundance of Valentine's cards already made. I shouldn't need to make more to send out until approximately 2027. In fact, I should never buy another Valentine stamp or paper again! I'll try to get a few more Valentine cards added in once I get the stamp room in order. (The remodel has taken longer than anticipated mostly because, after nearly 10 years of this hobby, I've just now developed a system for dealing with scraps. Boxes of scraps. MANY boxes of scraps.)

The Yadda Yadda Buffet: Oh, for the love of Pete!
And if you've spend quality time - like I did - wondering where this oft used phrase comes from, here's what I was able to dig up at http://www.pride-unlimited.com/probono/idioms1.html#f:
This phrase and phrases like "for Pete's sake" are euphemisms for the phrases "for the love of God/Christ" or "for God's/Christ's sake" hail from a time when those phases were considered blasphemous. Nowadays phrases like "for the love of God" are commonly used, but the euphemisms are still used.
Why Pete? Most likely it is a reference to the Catholic Saint Peter.
And yes, for the love of Mike is the same but with a reference to the archangel Michael. Now ya know!
But that's not why I labelled this post "Oh, for the love of Pete!" I am - once again - acknowledging that this blog thing is far more difficult than it looks. First ya gotta make something or do something, then ya gotta photograph it, then ya gotta get the picture off the camera and onto the website, and finally ya gotta say something about what ya made or did or life or all of the previous. NOT EASY!
This is my solemn promise post something every Sunday, whether it's meaningful (like "for the love of Pete") or creative, like a project I've been working on. Something new will be added to this fine entertainment venue every week or else!
Today, I'm starting with my a quest for the best fries in North America, an activity every Type II Diabetic should regularly engage in! I'll update you on the many failures and the few successes I encounter. Each fry will receive a rating of one to five fry guys. (And zero gets a special notation!)
My first review is Red Robin's fries. I'm not a big fan of steak fries; although nearly anything is improved with ranch dressing! And, yes, you can have as many of them as you want; if nothing else, they are plentiful. Now if only they were crunchy on the outside!
Rating:
And the garlic fries. Hmm, how can I be kind here? Nope, sorry, it's just not possible. These fries are moist; drippy, in fact. I guess they're prepared with some kind of garlic sauce before they're tossed with Parmesan. {Shiver! } Probably the top of my failure list to-date.Just a few thoughts from a gal who might be a few fries short of a Happy Meal!

Card-a-Copia: Holy Smokes!
It's been two months since I posted anything here. First it was my class reunion, then I went through a seriously long beading phase. I think I'm back on the papercrafting train now, though, since I put together a pretty nifty card for my mom's birthday.

Card-a-Copia: And It's Over!
I truly cannot stand my neighbors. They are both in their fifties, work opposite shifts, and have a hands-off approach to child rearing. None of children have a moral compass and they are prone to all sorts of illegal activities - many of them in the cul de sac outside my home.

Stamps: chickens (digi stamp Hambo)
Stamps: Edna (digi Bugaboo Stamps)
Papers: Georgia-Pacific coverstock), other (unknown)
I will say this for the dad, however; he cleans up his kids' messes. He was out bright and early this morning with the leaf blower, cleaning up the fireworks debris. (If he would just take care of my dandelion problem, he would be a great guy in my book!)
I only hid in the house for part of the day yesterday, but was plenty productive this weekend. Here are a few of the cards I made.

Stamps: Peek-a-Boo Boy (digi from Karen's Doodles)
Papers: Georgia-Pacific coverstock, circles (Heidi Swapp), other (unknown)
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copics

Inks: Copic markers
Misc.: edge punch (Martha Stewart); ribbon (unknown), Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, sentiment (computer-generated CK Noah font), twine*
The side of the card got cut off, so you can't see the ribbon with the twine on the side.
